Programs at the Lavrock are designed to nourish the growth of individuals, couples and groups. Weekends are usually booked by church and community-service groups who wish to conduct their programs in a retreat setting. Throughout the week, the Lavrock may be used by personnel, administrators, and teachers, when they need a quiet place to pray, plan, teach, or to dialogue in beautiful natural surroundings. The Lavrock is a space where people of all ages and physical conditions (main building and cabins are wheelchair accessible) can come together to grow spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.
Conferences & Seminars
There are three Conference rooms for 30, 50 or 100 persons.
Resources & Recreation
The Lavrock has flip charts, TV/VCR, overhead projector, and slide projector. For recreation, a pond with a wheelchair accessible dock, where it is possible to swim in summer and skate or ice fish in winter. There is a wheelchair accessible playground. There are also trails for hiking. Canoes and boats are available for hire. In the basement, there is space for table tennis, and floor games. There are recreation fields, picnic tables, and campfire sites.
Accommodations
A main lodge with accommodations for 50 in bunk beds. There are ten heated cabins capable of sleeping ten persons in each one. All cabins are equipped with toilet, washbasin and shower. Guests will provide their own sleeping bags or bedclothes, pillows as well as personal toiletries and towels.
Food & Hospitality
Food is prepared by the Lavrock's own staff. Three full course meals are provided daily. Refreshment breaks and evening snacks can also be provided upon request. Meals are served in the spacious room.
Directions to the Lavrock
The Lavrock Centre is about 50 kilometres (45-minute drive) from St. John's. Take the TCH to the Salmonier Line 1/2 km from the highway, turn right up a dirt road which will lead straight down the Pond and the Lavrock. The road is signposted.
